Central and peripheral retinal dystrophy, glaucoma, optic nerve atrophy (of various origins), myopia, diabetic retinopathy, etc. are chronically progressive diseases in ophthalmology that lead to a significant decrease in vision, and in some cases to blindness.

Along with traditional conservative (generally accepted) methods of treatment, including vitamin-tissue, vasodilating therapy, etc., we used the application belt "Universal M" , developed by N.G. Lyapko, for application to the eye area.

The aim of our work was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of using the application belt "Universal M" in complex therapy in patients with visual pathology.

In just two months of observation, 90 patients were followed up: 50 men and 40 women. The average age was 55 years.

The patients were divided into two groups:

group 1 - main - 46 people (received conservative treatment + application therapy);

Group 2 - control - 40 people (received only conservative treatment). The main group (46 people) with the following pathologies:

  • glaucoma -29 people;
  • retinal dystrophy -10 people;
  • cataract - 1 person;
  • myopia -1 person;
  • diabetic retinopathy - 2 people;
  • optic nerve atrophy - 3 people.

In addition to the main diagnosis, 15 people were diagnosed with combined pathology: presbyopia, farsightedness.

All patients underwent general clinical examinations, as well as special ophthalmological examinations:

  • visometry (study of visual acuity);
  • perimetry,
  • biomicroscopy,
  • ophthalmoscopy,
  • elastotonometry,
  • tonography,
  • gonioscopy.

The course included 10 procedures on the eye and neck area for 10 minutes in the supine position.

During the application of the application belt "Universal M" on these areas, a reflex-mechanical effect occurs on biologically active points in the application zone, galvanic microcurrents are formed and microinophoresis of the metals from which the applicator needles are made into the liquid medium of the body occurs.

In response to the impact of the applicator in the place of its application, the body begins to actively secrete its own internal medicines that improve blood circulation, enhance metabolic and recovery processes, relieve pain, and reduce swelling.

Simultaneous impact on the neck area improves cerebral circulation, relieves spasm of cerebral vessels.

Research results

Against the background of the treatment, positive dynamics in the form of an increase in visual acuity by 15-20% was observed in 40 patients of the main group, in 6 patients visual functions remained at the same level.

In the control group, against the background of the treatment, positive dynamics in the form of an increase in visual acuity by 10% was observed in 35 people, in 5 patients visual functions remained at the same level.

In addition to the increase in visual functions in patients using the application belt "Universal" on the eye area, the following was observed:

  • improvement of sleep, memory;
  • decrease in blood pressure in patients with hypertension;
  • relief of migraine headaches.

conclusions

The use of the application belt "Universal M" Lyapko on the eye area in ophthalmic hospitals in complex therapy is justified. It can also be successfully used by patients on their own at home for the prevention of early presbyopia, the treatment of myopia, mild hyperopia and other diseases. It is recommended for those whose work is associated with visual stress: teachers, students, students, people working at a computer, suffering from insomnia and headaches.
