Disinfection
Applicator devices Liapko (ADL) in use is in contact with the skin without damaging it, and have no contact with blood. In hospitals after the session of applications they need to be disinfected in accordance with the Standards of disinfection of medical devices, by their total immersion in a disinfectant solution.
To do this, there used chemicals for rubber and medical goods and for non-corrosion metals permitted for use in Ukraine. The concentration and exposure time according to the guidelines of disinfectants. For example: «Gigasept AF Forte new», «Korzoleks basic», «Korzoleks Extra» and others.
After treatment with disinfectants and washing under running water, disinfected unit is dried with a hair dryer with a stream of hot air.
Processed application Liapo devices are stored under a clean diaper.
When individually using, ADL needs no disinfection. Hygienic care treatment involves periodic cleaning with solution (shampoo, liquid soap), with a brush, wash with running water and drying with a stream of hot air (with a hair dryer) maximum close to the pins.
Applicators needles are made of non—corrosion metals that is subject to their oxidation.

Regulations of disinfection of Lyapko applicators (Lyapko application devices)
1. General provisions.
1.1. Regulations of disinfection of Lyapko application devices are prepared to prevent contagion.
The regulations define the schedule of disinfection in clinics, hospitals, policlinics, physiotherapeutic offices and other medical institutions of the general and special profile.
Needles of Lyapko application device are made from non-corrosive metals that assumes their oxidation that doesn't influence quality of treatment.
1.2. Lyapko application devises must be disinfected by soaking (not irrigation!) in special disinfecting solutions according to the instruction for use of disinfectant (further the instruction). The following rules must be observed: after use Lyapko application devices without preliminary washing and cleaning must be immersed in containers with disinfecting solution. 2.1. After use Lyapko application devices without preliminary washing and cleaning must be immersed in containers with disinfecting solution.
2.2. Time of soaking in solution (exposition) must be observed according to the instruction approved in Ukraine.
2.3. Applicators must be cleaned in disinfectant with detergency with a brush.
2.4. Disinfected Lyapko application devices must be washed under flowing water for several minutes.
2.5. Washed Lyapko application devices must be dried carefully by means of the hair dryer (a stream of hot air).
3. Recommendations about the disinfectant choice.
Lyapko application devices can be disinfected by dry-cleaning detergent for products from medical rubber and non-corrosive metals.
- Choose detergent which has a wide spectrum of effect concerning bacteria (including tuberculosis micobacteria, fungi, viruses).
- Using any detergents it is necessary to follow strictly the rules of delution, use and replacement of solution.
- In case of discoloration any solution must be replaced (even if the solution period of validity hasn`t expired yet).
- When choose disinfectant for Lyapko application devices, pay attention to content of anticorrosive additives in it. Any application must be immersed in disinfectant solution immediately after use. Containers with disinfectants have to be supplied with covers and the internal punched insert, marked with the name, concentration and date of production.
- Thanks to the fact that Lyapko application devices are in disinfectant solution for short time the risk of emergence of corrosion is reduced.
Almost all modern disinfecting solutions have cleaning and disinfecting effect. But it doesn't exclude further cleaning of devices under flowing water and use of a brush for cleaning of uneven surfaces. Cleaning with water helps to remove proteinaceous, fatty and mechanical impurities. After cleaning the must be dried up carefully by means of a hair dryer (a stream of hot air). There always has to be a necessary reserve of disinfectants in an office.
